Opis

Dr. Roger C. Bone, 56, a professor of medicine at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center, who wrote extensively about medicine and his own battle with renal cancer, died Sunday at the medical center. A pulmonologist and critical-care specialist, Dr. Bone joined the Rush medical staff in 1984 as chairman of the department of internal medicine, a post he held until 1993. He served as dean of the Rush Medical College in 1992 and 1993, during which time he was also vice president for medical affairs. From 1993 to 1996, he was president and CEO of the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Ohio. Before coming to Rush, Dr. Bone was professor of medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he served as chief of the pulmonary and critical-care division of the university's medical center and Veteran's Administration campus. In addition to publishing more than 1,000 articles and editing 56 books, Dr. Bone wrote candidly in the medical and the mainstream press about his own illness and his experiences caring for the terminally ill. !
